August FUN!

While it didn't seem like we had a lot of things planned in August...it turned into a busy month with LOTS of fun! I am going to let the pictures do the talking mostly for the month. I can't believe that tomorrow my baby will be going to school. It is bittersweet, while I know she is ready and she will do great-it is just one of those milestones that is hard to swallow. Mikayla will be going to the school that I teach at and I am so excited to have her close by. I feel so blessed because I don't have students in the class I am teaching to start the year, so I can see her into her class in the morning.

At the beginning of August we headed over to the Detroit area and spent some time with my Aunt and Grandma and also went to Ella's 5th Birthday party. It was at a gymnastics place and it was a lot of fun for the kids. A little busy for the parents especially my friend Jess who was 7 and half months pregnant at the time. But it went great and the kids had a blast. Here are a few pictures of the event.

The next event was a last minute trip from The Edward's clan. We had a great time and filled our days with the splash pad, beach and the zoo. Mikayla and Zechariah had a great time and played SO well together. Zayden is so laid back and is such a good baby. We had fun just hanging out!

Was kind of a chilly day at the beach, but the kids had fun building in the sand and walking the pier.

Our next even was another trip up to the cottage to spend some time with my brother Kyle and his friend Taryn. Mikayla and I headed up Tuesday and then I headed home Thursday evening for a work meeting Friday morning. Then James and I headed back up Friday morning after my meeting. We hung out at the cottage, mini-golfed in TC, climbed the Sleepy Bear Sand Dunes and let lanturns go.

 Swimming!
Climbing the dunes! Help from Uncle Kyle and Taryn! But she made it to the top!
Determined to get to the top!

Rolling down the hill-why is it that kids can't resist rolling down! She had a great time and had sand everywhere when she got to the bottom!

Letting the lanterns go-So on James and I drive to the Sleepy Bear Dunes to meet everyone-we stopped at a gas station and they had paper lanterns. Well if you have seen the movie "Tangled" that is a huge part of the move. Well Mikayla LOVES Tangled and has talked about paper lanterns since she saw the movie. So I bought a few of them to release. When we got home from the sand dunes-we let them go at the cottage. This was a great place, because it was over water. It was VERY cool and we had a great time releasing them!
Mikayla helping and holding while the lantern filled up with hot air!
Watching it float away!

Last fun for August was a trip to the Hudsonville Fair. We checked out the animals and rode the rides. It was a little warm but was a great day to enjoy the fair.

Up North-The Noorman Family-Part 3

For the last part of the week-James came back up to the cottage and we were joined by our friends Mike and Carmen and their 3 girls.
The weekend started with Tim and Brian putting in the sailboats. It was just the right breeze for sailing!
Tim on his Laser boat
Brian on his Butterfly boat!

Mikayla relaxing on her new tube!

 The Noorman's have arrived!
Making dinner-sandwich pizza pockets! Such a fun and yummy dinner!

Ellie, Mikayla and Abby waiting for their dinners!
 Emma and Mikayla-with dinner!
 Dessert-S'Mores!
Mike and Abby-Abby fell asleep-I think we wore her out!

Mikayla sleeping in a tent for the 1st time. James was the brave one to sleep in the tent with her. It is not that we don't like camping-we love it, but with Mikayla's medical needs and feeding pump for extra fluids at night we have braved sleeping in a tent. But this time we did. Mikayla did great. However I think we had a lot of comforts-not sure we would survive a few days, but she had fun doing it one night at the cottage!

Shadow puppets on the wall before bed!
Surrounded by all her sleeping pals! Ready for bed!
 The tent!
Awake in the morning! She made it all night!
 Playing in the water-the canoe!
Mikayla, James, Emma and Mike-off for a canoe ride! The girls had a great time-swimming down the river and canoeing. The came back with Grandma and Grandpa in the row/motor boat-so they didn't have to ride all the way down the Grass River with the guys in the canoe!
 Abby-eating S'mores with chocolate!
 Ellie!
Mikayla, being a fish! So proud of her for swimming around with no life jacket!
Carmen and I relaxing on the floats-reading!
Abby playing in the sand and water!
We had a great time at the cottage and couldn't of asked for better weather! Sunny and 70's and 80's everyday! Thanks Mom and Brian for having us-we know it isn't the quiet cottage that you like it to be when we are all there, but we appreciate you greatly for having us!

Up North-Ice Cream and Junior Royale Parade-Part 2

We mainly hung out at the cottage. James had to go back to GR for a few nights of classes. Before he headed back down-we made a trip to Higgin's in Alden for some yummy ice cream. Mikayla had chocolate-and I am not sure if she had more on her face or more in her tummy-but she at the whole thing-including the cone!

Messy girl-but that is the fun of ice cream!
All gone!
On Thursday-Mikayla and I headed into Traverse for another day of Cherry Festival. My plan was to get in to town late morning-get groceries and keep them on ice in the cooler and then head down to the mid-way. Well for some reason everything took a lot longer and by the time we were heading downtown it was time to meet the Tkach's and Vugteveen's to find a place for the parade! After finding a spot-we headed down to the open space and watched the Air Dogs jump and then got some dinner! The parade got a late start, but we had a great time!
The girls Mikayla, Lauren and Kylynn watching the Air Dogs. It was SO hot-we didn't last long!
The kids during the parade!
Mikayla and Camden!

Mikayla during the parade-waving her flag and eating a sucker!
Snacks and parade! The kids did great even though we were sitting there for over 2 hours!
The triplets! Kristi and I both got the same yellow cherry dresses from Target-it was so cute to see all the girls in the same dress! They thought it was so cute to be triplets-and we got lots of compliments on their dresses!
Mikayla, Addisyn and Kylynn!
